Living with a Wreath Lock.
Fit, installation, care, and the questions people ask. If yours isn't here, write to us.
Fit
The Wreath Lock is a single strip of stainless steel bent once over the top of the door. Closed, the strap sits under the jamb. Nothing to lift, nothing to unhook. It comes off from the inside, and only there.
12 in
The standard. Right for most doors.
16 in
Hangs the wreath lower.
25.5 in
For tall doors, or a wreath hung low.
Not sure which length? In the studio, add a photo of your door and it shows where each length puts the wreath. Or send the photo through the contact page and we'll tell you.
Which wreaths
Fits standard four-ring wire wreath frames: the strip threads onto the crossbar between the two outer rings. Wreaths with nothing for a hook to hold, such as grapevine, twig and deco mesh, use the adaptor, a small bent-steel loop that comes with every Wreath Lock.
Finishes
Plain steel is the bare stainless, brushed. The gloss and textured colors are powder-coated over the same steel, so the finish is part of the piece, not a wrap. Twelve inches comes in eight finishes; sixteen and twenty-five and a half in four.
Install
No tools. Nothing to assemble, adjust or lose. The wreath's crossbar threads through the slot in four moves.
Into the mouth. The crossbar between your wreath's outer two rings slides into the open end of the slot and runs to the first corner.
Around the bends. Turn the hook and the crossbar rides around the corner into the next run of slot. Turn again, and the whole hook is through the frame.
Down the slot. The crossbar travels the full length of the long leg and comes to rest at the closed end. That end carries the wreath.
Over the door, and close it. The strip sits between the outer rings, so the frame can't lift off, slide, or swing free.
Wreaths without a wire frame
The adaptor hooks under and over a vine at the back of the wreath.
Its arch rides the Wreath Lock's slot exactly like a wire frame: round both bends and down to the closed end.
The bars sit behind the strip, on the door side.
Maria's quick tips
Care
Plain steel. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry. Road grime and salt come off with warm water and a little dish soap.
Gloss and textured colors. Warm water, mild soap, a soft cloth. Nothing abrasive, no solvents. The color is powder-coated over the steel, so there is no plating to chip.
Between seasons. Dry it and hang it up, or leave it on the door. It is one piece of stainless steel.
Questions
Will it fit my door?
It hangs over the top of a standard exterior door and locks when the door closes. If your door has a storm door or an unusual jamb, send a photo through the contact page and we'll tell you before you buy.
Which length should I choose?
Twelve inches is the standard and right for most doors. Sixteen hangs the wreath lower. Twenty-five and a half is for tall doors, or a wreath you want low. The studio shows where each length puts the wreath on a photo of your own door.
Does it work with grapevine or deco mesh wreaths?
Yes, with the adaptor, which comes with every Wreath Lock. It loops a branch at the back of the wreath and threads the slot exactly like a wire frame.
Do I need any tools?
No. There is nothing to assemble, adjust or lose. No screws, no adhesive, no wire, no holes in the door.
How does it deter theft?
Closed, the strap sits under the jamb. Nothing to lift, nothing to unhook. It comes off from the inside, and only there. It is a deterrent, not a guarantee; nothing on a porch is.
Will it rust?
It is stainless steel, cut and bent as one piece, and the colors are powder-coated over that same steel. There is no plating to chip and no plastic to crack.
When does it ship?
